What is there to say about Built To Spill that hasn’t already been said?

It wouldn’t be a proper Treefort without the Boise veterans, and last night they showed just what makes them so special when they closed out the main stage for the night. Playing as a quintet, they ran through tunes from all over their vast catalogue, ranging from “Joyride” and “Stab” to “Goin’ Against Your Mind” and other more contemporary stuff, including a new tune off their upcoming record Untethered Moon, which is due out April 21.

While their Treefort appearance this year wasn’t as extensive as last year’s (where they played three shows), they successfully packed just as much punch. Often times seeing acts who are that influential can be a bit underwhelming, as their legend can overshadow their performance, and it’s not unusual to see those acts try to outdo themselves. Built To Spill, however, couldn’t have been further from that — no attempts at overly witty banter, no frills, no wankery. The only extended jams came exactly where they belong: the encore… which was a massive (both in length and skill) version of “Randy Described Eternity”.

In case you didn’t get a chance to catch the show yourself, or even if you went and just want to relive the good times, you can check out our photo gallery below. Enjoy!
