Portland, Oregon is a city where people are constantly creating.

But usually this can mean tucking oneself away to do just that. Finding a community to participate in and grow with, can be a difficult task, especially for the newer influx of residents. Between trying meet-ups and opening your senses just wide enough to catch wind of places to find inspiration, it’s quickly realized that the act of successfully finding community is an art form in and of itself.

To help the cities lovers of architecture in this search, we’ve listed and summarized our top five ongoing design and architecture-related events in the city.  These events are open to anyone and everyone.

Creative Mornings is an ongoing lecture that actually happens in many other cities around the world and luckily, in Portland as well. The community within this particular entity is well-established, bringing people together since 2008. Individuals are highlighted each month and the level of thoughtfulness that goes into choosing is notable. Why else would you get up early to socialize? The next Creative Morning talk is Friday, April 17 from 8:30 to 10am at PNCA Shipley/Collins Mediatheque, and will be led by Charlie Brown who will discuss bridging the gap between social change movements and powerful institutions.
