The Bevelers recorded at the Banana Stand in the spring of 2014 to a fairly small, early-day audience.

The pair’s minimal use of instruments and strong, melodic voices don’t leave any room for mistakes. Yet their live, one-take basement album is near perfect. If it weren’t for the audience applause breaks between songs, you might not know it was something of a bootleg. Using locally handcrafted Ear Trumpet Labs microphones, the polish on the record comes from Vita Mastering and the night’s engineer – Michael Finn (The Domestics), who works at local studio Flora and recently assisted on the upcoming My Morning Jacket album. Fittingly, the album’s release will be with the extraordinary Shook Twins at Portland’s Historic Old Church on Thursday, April 30th. Be sure to get there early as the event is only $5 and first-come, first-serve.
